For Baseball, there will be the following divisions (age as of May 1):

Connie Mack - recommended for ages 13-16, playing on a 60-90 field.  Full baseball rules are in effect here.  Central Perk offers the ability to play in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.  Games are held with other local leagues, so some level of local travel is required.  Connie Mack also offers a 17-21 year old division for the summer only.

Majors - recommended for 11 and 12 year old boys, playing on a 50-70 field. Stealing of all bases is now allowed, pitchers learn how to pitch from the stretch and hold runners, and the infield fly rule is in effect.

Minors - recommended for 9 and 10 year old boys, playing on a 46-60 field.  Games are kid pitched, with stealing of 2nd and 3rd base now allowed.  Teams will play 9 in the field, and get introduced to a more competitive level of baseball.

Rookie - recommended for 7 and 8 year old boys, starting to learn a kid pitch game.  Teams field up to 10 in the field, and the field size is 46-60, but some kids pitching from 40 feet to aid in development.

Pony - recommended for 6 and 7 year old boys, starting to learn to hit off a coach as a pitcher.  Kids start to get introduced to being out, hits to the outfield can result in doubles, but still learning all positions on the field.

QuickBall - replaces t-ball, and recommended for 4 and 5 year old boys entering the game.  Please visit our Quick Ball page under the Baseball menu to learn more about the game, and what its designed to teach!

GENERAL RULES

Each level of play in the program has its own specific rules geared to the level of skills in that level of play. The following rules are general rules that apply throughout the program:

Game Preliminaries:

Any changes from the original starting time and date must be agreed upon by both managers/coaches, Commissioner and umpire.

Postponements:In case of rain, the home team manager is responsible for postponement of the game. The home team manager must notify the opposing manager and the umpire no later than one hour and fifteen minutes prior to the scheduled start. The umpire,Commissioner or Field Coordinator may, at any time, overrule managers and postpone games for the safety of the players involved.

Equal Time: All players on your team should receive equal playing time. Qualifiers here are that they don't have to have equal time each game but over the whole season the playing time per player should be close. There is not a need to make up time for kids who miss games. Each kid should play at least 4 innings per 6 inning game.

Different Positions:

Players should be exposed to multiple positions and not play one position each game. Of course, if a player has not developed their skills to be able to play certain positions, they should not play them, e.g., a player who can't catch yet should not play first base. KEY NOTE: Not every player will pitch.

On-Deck

CP has adopted the NO ON DECK batter.  Players are not permitted to swing while on deck.

Game Behavior:

The coaching staff is responsible for the behavior of the parents of their team and their fans.

Team managers, coaches, players and parents are not allowed to stand behind the backstop. Please help the umpires and inform your players and parents of this rule.

Parents are not, with the exception of Quickball, to approach the bench or dugoutunless there is an emergency. Water bottles, etc should be in the player’s possession prior to the start of the game.  Players are NOT permitted to leave the bench to see a parent or family member unless an emergency.

The umpires must be treated with respect by players, coaches and fans, including parents. They are volunteers and not paid.

Any manager, coach, player or spectator ejected from a game shall face disciplinary action by the Commissioner with the minimum penalty for the first ejection being suspension from the next game in addition to the ejection from the subject game.

A second ejection will result in the suspension of any manager, coach, player or spectator for the remainder of the season.

FIRST AID KITS are in the shed.

AED will be in Rotary shed and minors shed.  Any severe injuries call 911 and please inform the league President as well asap.
